Marketing for those with no money
No money? Marketing for you!

Marketing can be tricky for a start-up with limited time and funds as well as having a product that might be the first of its kind to market.  Here are some resources that can help:

  • Workbook:  Check out our new Marketing Communications Workbook in the Entrepreneur’s Toolkit.  This workbook will help you understand the role of marketing communications in your business and guide you through steps to create a MarCom strategy and roadmap in the related Workbook Template.
  • Workshops:  We’ve just added a new workshop series to our Entrepreneurship 201 offerings.  The MarCom Toolkit series is a two-part workshop series that will help you to develop your marketing communications strategy and begin to execute it.  Talk to your MaRS Advisor to sign up for the next series which runs May 9th and 16th from 8:30-1:00pm.
  • Share your successes and your customers’ stories.  Nothing draws attention to your brand better than stories about your successes.  Use this to your advantage by communicating your successes and your customers’ positive experiences with your product or service.   Read more on this in the BusinessWeek article: “Take Customers Behind the Curtain”
  • Entrepreneurship 101 lecture: If you missed the lecture on Marketing Communications with Mark Evans, there’s a blog summary of it here. Go to the event page here on the MaRS site and you’ll get links to this as well as the video, slide deck and other resources.
