Ontario at the Consumer Electronics Show

In case you’ve been under a rock for the past while, the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas is the world’s premier showcase for must-have technologies. Everyone from Hollywood actors to state officials attend the conference along with the other 140k attendees and press.

This year Ontario is bringing a roster of clients to the mix.

Who’s at the show?

1. InteraXon

A leader in thought-controlled computing, InteraXon provides custom product and experience solutions to businesses and organizations looking to engage in the emerging Thought Controlled Computing (TCC) market. This year, InteraXon is introducing a thought-controlled version of the award winning ZenBound 2 iPad game, as well as a brainwave-powered 3D environment created in collaboration with cutting edge Canadian artist Alex McLeod.

2. Peraso Technologies, Inc.

Peraso is developing single-chip millimeter-wave transceivers for next-generation (60 GHz) wireless multimedia. Their first products target the mobile consumer electronics market and are compatible with emerging 60 GHz standards for ultra high speed wireless communication. The transceivers are characterized by high performance, small footprint and industry leading low power consumption.

3. MMB Research

MMB Research developed a platform that automates and simplifies the process of connecting devices and appliances to the smart grid or home area network. Using their platform, manufacturers of consumer devices and household appliances are able to bring their next-generation energy-aware products to market rapidly, affordably and with less uncertainty in a new and evolving standards environment.

4. Transgaming

Transgaming is a leader in the development of unique software products that facilitate the deployment and distribution of games across multiple platforms.

5. XYZ Interactive

XYZ Interactive provides the technology for sensors and systems to precisely locate objects in 3D to within millimeters of accuracy at meters of range. Their technology ranges from enabling simple presence, distance and gesture measurement in mobile and consumer electronics devices, to complex 6DOF 3D (six degrees of freedom in three dimensions) absolute positioning as required in augmented reality environments, sports simulations, lifestyle and home automation, retail sales conversion solutions, novel interactive toy and display controllers, immersive video games and computer assisted surgery applications.

6. TRLabs

TRLabs is Canada’s largest information and communications technology (ICT) R&D consortium. TRLabs drives the competitiveness of western Canada’s ICT industry with the supply of brain power and innovative technologies. From the seeds of ideas to applied research to technology development support, TRLabs’ engagement in all aspects of the innovation process delivers sector-leading commercialization rates, in-demand HQP and maximized ROI for its industry, university and government members. As a result, the not-for-profit organization is one of the most industry-invested R&D vehicles in Canada.

7. BlackCherry Digital Media

BlackCherry creates virtual worlds, online games and interactive media for entertainment, education and communications.

8. Nuvyyo

Nuvyyo is an Ottawa area start-up that is developing solutions that allow you to access your media (music, picture & video) wherever you go on any device you choose.

9. YOU i Labs

YOU i Labs develop next-generation technology that enables smart phone and personal electronics manufacturers to differentiate themselves. The YOU i Labs platform provides industry-leading graphics performance while significantly reducing hardware costs and time to market.
